Ive come home from a week away up in the sunshine and was nicely rested. So decided last night that today being Monday and the the beginning of my birthday month I would become all professional like and start treating my days like 'proper work days'.
I would have an office that looks like this. This would be the office in the house of course.

| tidy office |
Or better still, like this
| wonderfully tidy art studio |
But I had to get real! My 'studio' starts in the shed outside where I have taken over my hubby's side with drying racks for silk papers and silk fiber, my side which is full of wool, books, sewing corner, silk paper corner, table for photography as well as a wall for photography.
It then wanders into the laundry where I keep dyes and fibers ready for dyeing in the cupboard, through to the kitchen where I have just spent the best part of the day dyeing up a storm. When the wool is finished it will be draped out on the verandah festooned over chairs to catch the breeze to dry more quickly.
So getting back to the 'being all professional'? I'm going to have to work at that one. I was reading the article that went with the first pic and it mentioned that you had to have a separate working area from the rest of the home if you were going to succeed at having a home business. Hmmmm, Ive definitely got work to do!

A shed sounds good, wouldn't mind having one instead of my balcony! I work in the kitchen, and in the bedroom, no space for a separate crafting area. Or to put it otherwise, I live in my studio! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteHa. I live in my studio as well Valerie :-)
ReplyDeleteYou know, I was thinking along the same lines!
ReplyDeleteMost of my stuff is in the living room...you can tell I live alone LOL!
So, if I can drag myself away from Blogger, I might just be able to do something about it!
Have a great week,
Sandie xx
You don't have to live alone to be surrounded by your stuff, my hubby just wades through it with a patient look on his face. Bless him!
ReplyDeleteI am lucky enough to have a large space in the basement of our home. I have spent the last few years taking over more space, but for some reason I am never really organized. I am sure as time goes on you will figure out how to have the perfect working space.

Everyday Inspired
I have a separate studio and workshop that's, uh, not exactly tidy. I make the jewelry on the coffee table in the living room. My packing and shipping stuff is in the spare bedroom, and the computer and office stuff is in the dining room. I don't think I'll ever get to the point where I can call myself professional haha. Tried it once, lasted for a minute!
ReplyDeleteI do have my own studio now, it used to be my dog grooming shop! ;) Although lately it has been invaded by my 14 year old... She is opening up her Etsy shop again and has been hard at work. It's okay, I don't mind sharing the space ~ she's quiet like me when she's working! ;) That first office is so beautiful it made me want to cry. Perhaps I should paint my studio yellow... I love having a space dedicated to all of my crafting supplies, it inspires me just to walk in here. :)
