Blu Canvas, day 2

Love it when I have fan's!! Okay it's just one fan...but thats cool. Love you too Trudy.
Today was applying another layer using the sponge roller. This time cobalt blue, violet and ultra blue mixed with white. I also misted this lot and let it dry. By the way, I am using acrylics. I feel a city night light scene coming on, though this may (and probably will change).
My son has just informed me they have to go back to Perth tonight. He is a volunteer bush fire brigade guy and they have a very nasty fire happening north of Perth. A couple of houses have already been lost today. The people are safe which is good. I am very proud of Aaron, but I do worry about him (as most mothers would). It's a 3 hour drive, which means he won't get their before 10.00 tonight then will most probably fight fires through the night. Lots of prayers and light going his way, I can tell you!

Mixed Media Canvas

Howdy all, Ive decided it's time to start another canvas. It's all about colour! Ive tended to stay a little monochrome for a while, stay in the safety zone so to speak... so now I'm breaking out! As I work on a each layer I'll pop it up to show you, and to force me to work!
Day 1. I sprayed the canvas with water then tore tissue into strips and glued it on using gesso. The gesso covered the front and sides of the canvas. (sealer)
Day 2. Using a sponge roller covered the whole canvas with a mix of french ultra blue deep, violet, and french ultra blue and white, spraying with a mister to keep the paint damp (its very hot here today). The misting also created a nice effect. I will let this layer dry, going out for lunch with kids to have a few wines. (see thetravellingalchemist).

Will chat at the next layer. Bye

Rivendell Restaurant

My son and his beautiful wife are here for a little holiday form Perth. it was 40C up there today, so 36C here was very mild! Took them to lunch at the serene and green Rivendell Restaurant , which is close by today. The gardens there are lush and fresh. We sat out under the verandah sipping on chilled wine, eating red curry prawns, goats cheese tart, ice cream and good coffee's. Wouldn't be dead for quids! The photo is the view of the gardens from the verandah, and us enjoying ourselves.

ACEO

Woo hoo! Have just made my first aceo. ACEO stands for "Art Cards, Editions and Originals". These cards have one main rule - they are 3.5 inches by 2.5 inches - the size of a trading card. Actually, I have been making them for years when I think about it. Little paintings or textiles to be used as part of a larger piece. I didn't find out until recently though that people liked to collect them. Affordable art. Excellent! Ive just bought one from a great artist on the etsy site. pinkglitterfae.etsy.com. Check out her site, some lovely work. One thing is though, I struggle with pricing, do I price too high, too low? All the insecurities will continue to come out until I have my first sale I suppose. Is everyone getting revved up for Chrissie? I don't feel quite in the festive mood this year. It's been a big year and Christmas has come low on the list of priorities. On my list of things to do was to have my own gallery. This has started to take shape in a small was on etsy, and boy has that taken up time! I have spent more time there than in my studio, I suppose setting it up is what my sister-in-law calls "making money for old rope". Once Ive got the basics down, how to do photos, pricing etc it will become quick and easy...maybe....
The photo is a combo of 3 acoes framed together.

Spending time in Forums

OMG, I have discovered forums! And I am wasting a lot of time there. My beautiful hubby is away for a week and finding a bit more time on my hands, thought I would check out the forums in the etsy site. The thread in critiques ' making new friends' by earjeans.etsy.com lasted 3 days now! I drop in periodically and make more and more new friends. Check it out fellow craftspeople and artisans, it is lovely. Not sure if you have to be a fellow etsarian to view it though?
Glue guns.... I have decided I hate them, as I mentioned in the forum. "I am not one with the glue gun' if you get my drift? Any hints on the correct use and handling of the dratted things?

The photo is totally unrelated to anything on this post, it just shows that my husband will do nearly anything to please me...even dress up in apink caftan at a hippy party. The photo is a few years (10 actually)old. Check out the excellent mullet my dear one is sporting.

My To Do LIst

Received an email from the Goddess Leonie site, lovely place, highly recommend it to all up and coming Goddesses! Twas all about ' to do lists', got me thinking (again. Must stop this, I'll have a brain burst!) I will do one of these, and post it here, maybe it will inspire you to do one too. The act of writing it down helps to put it out there , where who knows? With a little help from the universe, it all may happen! There's only 15 on the list at the moment, but as I think of more exciting things, I'll jot them down.
My To Do List
1. Paint a set of oracle cards
2. Fill my home with beautiful artwork ( on the way)
3. Speak Italian in Italy ( doing classes at the moment) Struggling with this, actually.. I haven't learnt another language before, and I think the little pathways in my brain that learn new things are complaining!)
4. Teach others to explore their creativity.
5. Visit Provence
6. Live for a while in another country
7. Own a beautiful country garden with lots of roses.
8. Write a book
9. Travel around and through Australia
10. Have my own gallery of beautiful things. ( actually, I suppose I could call the Etsy shop a gallery, couldn't I?)
11. Teach workshops on art and or healing around the world
12. Love myself as much as I love my husband and children (working on that, ongoing process!)
13. Speak another language fluently with my husband.
14. Be brave!
15. Visit New Zealand.
16. Visit Canada!!

Mixed Media Canvas

I sent the Alchemist off on its journey today, keep safe little one... Have been busy making more art and having lots of fun, but you should see my studio, It looks like a bomb has hit it! My problem is I am attracted to bright, shiny things (so to speak) and have to have all kind of goodies in my mixed media pieces. So out comes everything, just in case, and is generally left in any available space until I'm finished. And maybe, just maybe I may tidy it up before I start the next one. So you can just imagine.... This photo is of a little canvas titled Cherish. It looks better in the etsy shop. Bye for now

The Alchemist

Today I was walking along the beautiful beach at Old Dunsborough, asking the Universe (as you do) What am I supposed to be doing? you know that old one..Purpose and all that... well, as I strolled I came across a lovely book sitting on the sand. It was titled a Book for Girls, or something like that. Anyway this book was meant for a girl probably aged around 10 to 12, I left it there waiting for just the right young lassy to pick it up and love it. The book was not meant for me, but it did make me think about books travelling the world finding just the right person to love their story and then pass them on. A gift to the traveler, which then made me think some more... The Alchemist came to mind straight away, a beautiful story about love and hope. And a book I loved and wanted to share, so that is what I am going to do! I am sending it on its way around the world (I hope) to inspire others. I am going to set up another blog called Travelling alchemist.blogspot.com so people can send me a message to let me know where the little book has gone and if and how the story may have inspired them. I'm not sure what this has to do with 'purpose', but what the heck it might be fun!
